Post by: jimbo13 on Wednesday 13 August 14 15:27 BST (UK)
Whilst looking for an uncle in Australia, I came across a useful site that you can look at Australian newspapers, click on link http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper, select all then pick you newspaper. Hope this will be of use to someone.

It is an excellent site. Not only for Australian Genealogy but it often has details relating to "The Mother Country" when someone with Australian links is married in the British Isles. Full details of both parties, date and church!

NSW Newspaper Resources Many thanks to Rosball for these links :)

the Fairfax news store http://newsstore.fairfax.com.au/ (1990-current) is free for everyone.  It's original purpose seemed to be for shares and stocks but if use advanced search it is quite useful and can even limit search to (for eg) death notices, legal notices etc within a given date.
Covers :  Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, Illawarra Mercury, Newcastle Herald, Sun Herald, Sunday Age, Vic Fairfax community newspapers and NSW Fairfax Community Newspapers

This site http://tributes.heraldsun.com.au/ has "recent" death notices for a variety of newspapers
via a pull-down menu:  (and is free for everyone anywhere)
Herald Sun,The Mercury, The Advertiser, The Daily Telegraph,Gold Coast Bulletin, Cairns Post,
Geelong Advertiser, NT News, Townsville Bulletin
And there is another pull-down menu to change the time-frame.

There is also google news archive for Sydney Morning Herald (free for anyone anywhere) https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=lL5f5cZgq8MC&hl=en but latest entries are in 1980's and nothing beyond that so far. [and gaps within there]

Sorry, I didn't see it listed here, under Newspaper resources?

I thought it would be useful to others who are not aware of it, I certainly wasn't.

Mods: Please remove my post if the link can be found elsewhere.

Thanks

Cando you might want to check your link from an earlier post on here, it just loops back to rootschat main forum page

The Ryerson Index is normally updated every weekend (unless the webmaster is away on leave or at conferences etc).
Its url is :  www.ryersonindex.org now.  All work done by volunteers, indexing from about 300 Australian newspapers, some more comprehensively than others, detail on dates done can be found under Newspaper Coverage.

Yes the link is correct.  It links to the AUSTRALIAN RESOURCES AND OFFERS BOARD and then each State is listed individually. The Ryerson Index has been listed in each individual State.
Perhaps you may like to browse through the various sub boards to see if there are any other links which may be useful in your research.
