Would anybody be able to help me locate any information/pictures of the Tower Hotel, 14 Tower Street Selkirk? My great great grandfather was the innkeeper there according to the 1871 census but Google isnt finding anything for me on this occasion.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I would say the Tower Hotel was possibly also called the Crown Hotel in 1861, from here there are various links the NLS maps: http://www.scottishindexes.co.uk/61transcript.aspx?houseid=77804095
Here is a postcard of Tower Street, Selkirk (photo taken c. 1903): https://flic.kr/p/br6jSZ I would say that the Tower Hotel (as you look at the postcard) was on the right hand side of the street: the section which is now largely demolished!!
If I come across anything else I'll let you know.

Many thanks Emma. Amazing to think I've driven down that hill many times and had no idea I was going right past my ancestors front door step.
