I thought it was about time I introduced myself.
I started my family history researching my CARRINGTON roots in Smalley. Since then, I have gone on do to a One Place Study of the village.

I would be glad of visits and feedback, and any Smalley stories/information that anyone comes across.
It is very much a 'work in progress'.

I have just uploaded more PR and census transcriptions to my Smalley OPS site - another marathon task completed!
You can find them on http://web.archive.org/web/20100707030740/http://www.smalley-ops.co.uk/smalleyops.html
Best wishes for a good Christmas and a very happy New Year :)

Hi Patrisia
Great site. Some of my family were from Smalley so it has helped me a lot.
Thanks
Happy Christmas

Yes it is/was a great site.
If you try to access the site now, however you get the error message:
"This Account Has Been Suspended"
Does anyone know what has happened? Has it gone forever?

The data is still accessible via the Internet Archives "wayback machine" at http://www.archive.org/
Last version of the smalley site that was captured seems to be at www.smalley-ops.co.uk in Jan 2009.
NB the second link points directly to the suspended site and therefore won't work. I can't figure out how to tell RC it's not meant as a link but a url that you need to put into the wayback machine's search.
-
Many thanks for that.
Lots of useful information still there.

Patricisia who ran the site died about 18 months ago.

So sad.
A lot of hard work went into that site.
It is a pity it can't be kept up in her memory.
-
That is sad... Is it possible to still access the information and get it back "out there" at all?
-
The data is still accessible - see my reply #4.
If you have never used the internet archive (otherise known as the way back machine) go to www.archive.org, then type the Smalley site url wwwsmalley-ops.co.uk into the box immediately above "take me back". Then use the timeline to get the 1 Jan 2009 version, which is I think is the last live copy.
Although the Smalley url appears as a link, do NOT try to follow it, but proceed as above.
-
Wow, that is so cool, I didn't know you could get access to old sites like that, thank you! I did follow the instructions in post 4, just failed to appreciate there was information behind the dates...d'oh!

This link supercedes the one in a previous topic...
