trying to make a family connection to the Segraves from Dunany ... I have some family history that leads me here but don't have any solid documentation. I believe the connection is to Peter Segrave ..but the direct connection to me is a James Segrave .
Peter Segrave was born in early 1800's ..I believe he is the father of Fr. John Segrave b.1839 and Msg Patrick Segrave b. 1849
I think James Segrave b early 1800's could be a brother of Peter Segrave. My connection is through written family history that is not complete.
Thank you!

I think you are looking for older records in order to confirm or eliminate a possible connection between the 2 men? Do you know what religion they were? Have you checked here for Segraves (some records even back in 1700s).

Thank you both so much... Aghadowey...the priests were Catholic priest..and I have been trying to look through any histories of the churches in the area to see other Segrave connections...
And dathai... I had seen some of the Wills but not all.. I was looking at the will of James .. Do you understand the relationship between Fr. John and minor child Peter? I think James could have been a brother to the priests?? 8)

The reason I asked about religion was that some seem to have been Catholic and others Church of Ireland in the records I saw (link posted earlier).
-
Aghadowey...our family is Catholic...but I have been looking both because of the constant back and forth with the Church of England/Ireland . I have learned to always stay open to the records that are there and not dismiss anything...

Hi Bernadette
Sorry dont really know what the relationship is,but you have Fr Patrick and Stephen Segrave on Bridgets Will and Fr John caring for the Minor Peter Segrave aka as Percy Segrave.
Two possible births for him though i would be inclined to go for the first one.

Dathai....I was able to find the actual wills if Bridget Segrave the mother and Fr. John Segrave one of the sons.. It is very exciting because the Stephen you found in the census is named as a son/ brother confirming the family members! I know we are related my best educated guess is their father Peter Segrave was my gg grandfathers uncle... And Patrick , John, Stephen Frances and others unnamed were his 1st cousins.
It was a good day! Still looking for my ggg grandfather James who I believe is Peters brother
