I have come up with little on my husband's ancestor, Mark Parslow b. 1851 Bolton, Lancashire d. 6 May 1890 Townsville, Queensland, Australia.
I have two records for him, His marriage to Fanny Reynolds 12 Jul 1877 in the home of Rev. W. Powell on Boundary Street in Brisbane. This record indicates he is the son of John Parslow and Mary Ann Lockwood. His father and himself are stated as Butchers and that he was born in Baltan, Lancashire.
The other record is that of his death. Which as the occupations of himself and his father as both Butcher. Parents as John Parslow and Mary Ellen Lockwood. Also his birth as Bolton, England and he is 39 years at his death. And he has been in Queensland 13 years. Which puts his arrival to Queensland 1876/1877. By 1878 they are living in Toowoomba and sometime between 1885 and 1889 they move north to Townsville. I have nothing other than the names of his parents and that his father was a Butcher.
Anyone have relevant resources they can check, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm Very strange?
There is no birth registration for a Mark Parslow (FreeBMD and LancashireBMD), in or around 1852?
He doesn't appear on any census, either?
Just a possibility?

Agreed, it's really a mystery not being able to find anything.

Have you checked Australian Birth Records? Trove has various articles on John Parslow Butcher with premises in Lonsdale St Melbourne and an inquest report of a John Parslow Butcher living in Robinson Crusoe Gully ( great name that).

I appreciate you have sighted a stated birth in Lancashire but if I have learnt anything is that sometimes our ancestors did everything they could to hide an unpleasant truth.
It seems that either there were 2 John Parslow butchers or he moved to Molong ( near Orange) NSW in the 1880s
Hope this gives you another avenue to look at :)
