Title: James Cunningham of Rerrick

Hi

Im trying to trace James Cunningham for another family member. James brother Robert said he was born in Rerrick, Kirkudbright

Their parents were: Robert Cunningham and Jane McTaggart

James and Robert moved to New Zealand.

James was born around 1839 and died in 1889 in New Zealand. Ive got his death certificate (died 1889) and his marriage certificate (married 1866) in New Zealand but havent found on Scotlands people his birth/baptism

Any suggestions for locating the birth and and death records of his father and birth of his mother (she died in 1904)?

I dont know if this is them in the 1841 census or not but it seems like a good match

The 1851 census has them possibly:

The father isnt in the record so is possibly dead. They are living in Twynholm, Kirkcudbrightshire and now have other children: Jessie, Mary, Elisa

In the 1871 census there is an Alexander Cunningham listed as Janes son. He dies in 1915 unmarried. He was born in 1837 but doesnt appear in the 1841 census with his family.

Robert Cunningham died 1st Oct 1846 aged 32 years. His wife Jane died 4th April 1904 aged 91
years.
There is a M.I ( No 10 ) at Rerrick cemetery in relation to this family.
