Title: Jersey marriage look up, if anyone can help, Jenkins - Fielding
Post by: Mummykins184 on Monday 05 October 15 14:00 BST (UK)
Hi, I am hoping there is someone out there that can do a marriage look up in Jersey for me c 1879, I am looking for a possibly marriage for a George Jenkins to Julia Fielding, George was in the army based in Jersey in 1879 and Julia was born in Jersey, I know that they had left Jersey by April 1880 as their son was born on the ship Lady Olive on route to Ireland. I cannot find George's service records, but I believe this is the same George that married my Great Grandmother in 1991 (possibly bigamously). If I could get an index reference number for the marriage in Jersey I could order the cert to confirm whether the two George's are the same man. Thanks, Sharon

Jerripedia only really goes up to 1842, the later indexes are not a lot of use without the registers to refer to.
I will be working at the Jersey Archive later this week and can have a look for the marriage and send you the index number. Bear in mind that Jersey marriage certificates cost £20 each but you can get marriage photocopies from the Archive for £5

Sorry it's been a while but I have been through all of the Jersey marriage indexes and it does not appear as if George and Julia married here. If he is the George who married your Great Grandmother then perhaps it wasn't bigamous after all.
