Hello,
Apologies but I am new to this, but I was wondering if anyone might have any information about the Cocke families around Kendal and Crossthwaite and Lyth pre 1700's.
I am trying to find information about Hannah Cocke (c. 1680) (From Crossthwaite) and her father James Cocke but have drawn a blank about James
I'm located in Australia so a trip to the Lakes district may have to wait 10 or so years ( :)) and whilst I have access to Ancestry.com, FHS records and Lancs OPC, these are not proving useful in tracking James - though they point at many other Cockes in the area - and mayhaps James may be John - though this appears unlikely too.
Many thanks in advance and seasons greetings to all

Welcome to Rootschat.
This could be her baptism on 27 Jun 1680 from Family Search

Many thanks Groom. Yes, that was the entry that led me to look for James (and this entry appears to be indeed Hannah), further research from here is where I hit problems as there were no James in the Crossthwaite branch - though there are a few in nearby Kendal.
After listing every single Westmorland family member in the 1500's - 1720 and trying to link them together, I'm still in a bit of a pickle.
Again, thanks for your assistance. much appreciated

Many thanks Westmoreland, whilst I don't think the group you listed are connected, it certainly shows clustering of family groups around the Westmorland area.
It would be fascinating to know a little more about the migration around these towns at that time (1600-1700's) especially given the Act of Uniformity at that time and what appears to be local support for the clergy over the Crown.
Again thanks, and happy hunting :)
