Can you tell us what sort of information you are looking for? Is it Alexander DJ Matheson's family and death that interest you, for example?

Hi, I am looking for any information on Alexander David James Matheson and his family from when he was in Scotland. I have information on him and Elizabeth Fraser (McBeath) and their children from when they immigrated to Canada in 1906. I am also interested in knowing what happened to Elizabeth Fraser McBeath's father  Thomas McBeath born abt. 1851 married to Elizabeth Lowrie born abt. 1861 in Edinburgh Midlothian Scotland. Married April 25 1873 in Edinburgh Midlothian Scotland. Elizabeth Lowrie- McBeath immigrated to Canada with her daughters in 1906. She is listed as a widow. I can't find anything on Thomas.
Thank you

Elizabeth Macbeath 44 b. Edinburgh, St Cuthbert
Elizabeth Macbeath 20 Cook (domestic) b. Edinburgh, St Cuthbert
Douglass Macbeath 16

Robert Macbeath 12
Marrion Macbeath 10
Ann Macbeath 7

Address Flenchary, Dornoch

I think there is a likely death for Thomas McBeath in 1903 in Dornoch, born c. 1850. The original image of the death registration on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk would let you be certain.

If you have access to a/try, one of the family trees also shows brother Robert Lamont McBeath in Canada http://person.ancestry.co.uk/tree/58451685/person/40035599107/facts

Not sure if you have viewed on Scotlands People the marriage cert you mentioned on April 25 1873 in Edinburgh. This will hopefully let you confirm full names of both sets of parents for bride and groom. Elizabeth Lowrie (there will be a number of spelling variations for this surname as there will be for McBeath, the further back you go in the records) was still alive when son Robert attested for WW1.

Will be easier to be definitive when you confirm Thomas' parents' names, but possible entry for him here in 1851 with family:

Thomas Mcbeath 28 Hand Loom Weaver b. Dingwall, Ross
Maron Mcbeath 29 b. Dornoch, Sutherland
Jessie Mcbeath 4
Alexr Mcbeath 2
Thos Mcbeath 10 Months

Address: Evalix Mills Farm 4 Cottages, Dornoch, Sutherland

Can't easily see births or christenings so far, but possible banns or marriage from the Old Parish Registers (pre the start of official registration in Scotland from 1855), here https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XY7K-345

1861, all that shows is:

Mary Macbeth 32 Weaver's Wife
Thomas MacBeath 10

Address: Evelix, Dornoch

Possible birth entry for Elizabeth Fraser McBeath's mother, Elizabeth Lowrie https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQCQ-Q2R  As is common in Scotland, Elizabeth looks to have been named after maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Fraser, wife of John Lowrie.

Transcript not great (original images are always best). From 1861:

John Lawrie 34 shoemaker b. Canongate, Edinburgh
Elizabeth Keaser (likely should read Fraser) 38 b. Canongate, Edinburgh
Elizabeth Lawrie 4 b. St Cuthberts, Edinburgh

Address: 2 Cowfeeder Row, Edinburgh St Cuthberts

Likely you have all of this? Apologies if you do. Elizabeth Fraser Lowrie/McBeath's burial details www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=mcbeath&GSfn=elizabeth&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=133943300&df=all&

Hi Monica
Thank you so much for all your help. I wish I had scotlandspeople website to confirm this information. I have Ancestry now so I can check out Censuses. I have been mainly using Familysearch.org. Great site.
Thanks again.

Hi, Could I ask what branch you are linked to, as I have details of this line, but would rather ask the direct descendants before I send any photos. Regards

Have you gone sideways:
Thomas Matheson m. Christy McRae 22 May 1848 Dornoch, Sutherland, Sco.
There are a few details available for his family in Portsee Inverness area, which may lead onto more clues, if he was a brother to Alexander Matheson (1831-1905).

See http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=714261.0

Neither Ancestry nor FamilySearch has images of the originals of the census. All they have is transcriptions and indexes, and errors are known to exist in both.

Never trust anything you find online unless it is an image of an original document.

You may already have found Thomas & family gravestone but I'll attach it anyhow (or maybe not as there's something whirring in the background!) It's in the Dornoch Free Church Cemetery & I've suggested the inscription to the memorial manager as it wasn't included when the memorial was created, so hopefully in the next few days it will appear. There are other McBeath's that I've photographed & will hopefully add within the next week.
I've been looking for Donald, Robert & Janet (Jessie) McBeath-mother, GF & GGGF of Marion Forbes 1857-1920, my Grandaunt Williamina's in laws.
You may already have corrections in the spelling of place names in the original posts: Evelix (2 miles from Dornoch on the A9). Fleuchary (an area not a house name) in the district of Birichen, to the left just after the Evelix garage going north (an area where Marion & family lived) & Gair House (I only know Gair building or hall) (on main road Bonar Bridge)
Kind regards
