After consideration I am posting this on the general Welsh board because they moved from Caernavon to Pembroke, and may have died in Aylesbury!
My problem is that I cannot find a death date for either of them. The information I do have is as follows: John Benjamin Davies, born in Llanboidy, Narberth, son of Thomas and Ann/Amelia Davies in 1865. In 1871 Thomas was a draper in Llanboidy. In 1883 John became a bank clerk and worked his way up through various branches to become manager of the Pembroke branch in 1910, retiring in 1926. His wife Agnes Esther (Jones) was born in Caernavon in 1871, father John also a draper. They got married in 1894. Family info is that John Benjamin (may) have died in Aylesbury after WW2. No info about Agnes.
I spent far too much time yesterday scouring both An and FindMyPast without success, looking for a death date for either of them. Can anybody help???

For Agnes the first one can't be her because she was born in 1871 and would have been 77 not 81. The second one ... ish. John is thought to have died at Aylesbury because that's where his eldest daughter moved to, apart from that neither of them had ever set foot outside Wales!
And the ones for John are all pre-WW2 so I am not as yet convinced. But thank you for your quick response.

I was very careful to state that these were possibilities? ::)
And never assume that ages on death certificates are accurate!
The Registrar simply writes down what he is told; no proof is asked for.
Don't be so quick to dismiss suggestions.

Fair point and I apologise!

Again using FreeBMD,
There are 42 deaths for John B Davies between 1930 and 1944,
There are 65 deaths for John B Davies between 1945 and 1970.
Deaths after 1970 show a date of birth - none of them are for anywhere close to 1865!
There are no centenarian deaths after 1965 (when John would have been 100).
There are no deaths in their 90's between 1955 and 1965.
And no ages that would fit for any deaths, for John B Davies, between 1945 and 1955.
I haven't looked for deaths for John B Davis - I'll leave that for you to do ;D

That is a truly stunning assemblage of information!

Hooray hooray *dances round room*, yes, those are his daughters -- and it is actually Agnes Esther which it should be. And Aylesbury, too. THANK YOU (but why couldn't I find it yesterday???) *smacks self on forehead*

Now this is getting embarrassing, but pleasing. Thank you Welshjo! Topic complete I think!

No probs. Sometimes it takes someone else to see something, as when you are looking continually it's sometimes hard to see the wood from the trees!!!
-
Exactly so!

And, from FreeBMD:
Deaths, March qtr 1942
Blackpool Registration District vol 8e, page 1174
Davies, Agnes E age 70
Lessons learned? ;D
FreeBMD is much easier to use than Ancestry and FindMyPast - and it's free!
Family stories aren't always 100% correct!
