We are trying to find information about a James Taggart of the Tyrone Ditches/Poyntzpass area in Co. Armagh, who may have married a Mary Guy b. in 1780's, whose parents may have been John and Margaret Guy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

RIC policy was to not post staff to the county where they were born (or where their wife was born). If John served in Poyntzpass, it's unlikely he came from that county. Have you checked his RIC record?
