Trying to find birth record of Jane. According to 1861 census Manchester she was born c 1825. Married William Pixton 3 Jan 1863. shown as a widow. Her father was shown as Dudley Joynt a farmer. witnesses were John Seddon & Catherine Joynt. Her first marriage was to Henry Joynt but I cannot find their marriage records. Henry & Jane had children. Margaret, Henry & Frances all born Ireland between 1845 & 1852.
I found what might be Jane' baptism in Ancestry in the Ireland, Catholic Parish Registers, 1655-1915
Jane Joynt
Event Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 18 Nov 1830
Baptism Place: Kilfian, Mayo, Ireland
Diocese: Killala
I can't decipher the actual record.
Can anyone help please
regards dinkey

I think it says "adult & convert"
-
thanks.
what a shame then that it does not give her parents names.

I might be being a bit thick here, but if Jane's married name was JOYNT (married to Henry, in Ireland around 1845 according to the children's ages on the 1861 census), wouldn't her maiden name be something different? I know the marriage record for her 2nd marriage says Dudley JOYNT was her father, but isn't this likely to be an error?

Is this your webpage ? http://www.joynthistory.com/MyJoyntFamily.html

I am keeping an open mind on whether Jane could very well have married a cousin called Henry Joynt, I just need to find whether that was the case. The 2nd marriage to William Pixton definiteley shows Jane's father as Dudly.

That is not my website. I am just trying to help a friend with her family tree.

Yes, that makes sense. Just me being a bit slow :-[

The 1921 application for an 1851 census search (referred to on that website) is searching for a Henry Joynt, parents Henry & Jane, family members Margaret, Dudly, Wm & Francis.

Hi all,
Yes it's an Adult Baptism. says she was born about 1830.
I searched then for a Henry Joynt and a Jane and got Henry Joint to a Jane Keane, in 1844.
Is this what you were looking for?
Henry Joynt born 1816, his father was Dudley and Mother was Margaret.
I will keep what I find in case you would like the docs.

Hi Maggsie
I am confused now.
You state that Henry's father was Dudley Joynt and yet on Jane's 2nd marriage to William Pixton in Manchester she gives her father as Dudley Joynt
Where did you find a marriage of a Henry Joynt and Jane Keane, in 1844 ( I note the name is shown as Joint)
also, where did you find all the children born to this Henry & Jane?
If you still have the docs. can you post details on here
Thanks

Hi,
I have found this with second marriages, when asked the bride what was your fathers name they give the father of the man they married previously.
My in laws cousin was so excited at the birth of his son he was asked the Mothers maiden name and gave his Mothers name, it was just by chance I thought mmm I wonder!
Joint Joynt written how it sounds.
You may not know but school wasn't allowed.
The rootsireland site is where I get these records. Then I check with family search then Ancestry.
They don't all have the same info. Depends on who typed it in!
I will send on the info to you.

There's a marriage for Dudley Joynt and Mgt Ready in Crossmolina, Mayo: 20 September 1815

thanks for that information ShaunJ
I am keeping that in mind as Henry's parents. Still puzzled as why Jane when she married her second husband William Pixton that she gave her father's name as Dudley Joynt.
I have emailed Carol Lee the owner of the website http://www.joynthistory.com/index.html
hopefully, she can shed more light on the correct details regarding Henry Joynt and Jane Joynt

Hi Hallmark
Ernest was the son of Henry born 1848 who was the son of Henry & Jane.
I think the Letty you found belongs to a different Henry, the family I am looking for came from Crossmalina.
Thanks for looking these up for me

unfortunately, the docs. are not in a format I can post on here. However. They are baptisms, marriage and burials for some Henry and Jane Joynt's in County Mayo and they are on rootsireland website, if that helps.
-
Firstly,
Apologies for the wrong name - I blame the spell checker and have changed it now.
Secondly,
No problem. I see now why the info was sent privately.
Presumably, then she has given her father as Dudley or it has been transcribed as such. She may have thought she was being asked for her previous husband's name.

To all who have participated in this chat the various Henry and Jane Joynt combinations that you have come up with are several families that have the combination of a Henry Joynt with a wife Jane (4 marriages that I have come across in Co. Mayo alone). I have records of 31 Henry Joynt's that were born in Co. Mayo between 1738-1929 and 9 Dudley Joynt's born in Co. Mayo between 1720 and 1864. In total I have 40 records for Irish born Henry Joynt's 1738-1931 and 22 Dudley Joynt's 1704-1935. The records cover births, deaths, marriages, inherited family trees and immigration. Additionally, I have a databank of every Joynt name and exact year, or estimated year of birth, I have ever come across during my research.
If anybody is interested and would like further information I have been researching the Joynt family name for over 17 years. Additionally the Jane Joynt daughter of Dudley is my great-great-great grandmother.
I am also the owner of Joynthistory.com and the Facebook Page Joynt Family History
