Robert Wayman & Janet Thomson married 1845 Greenock Scotland
went to Barbados in the early 1845/1846 they had 2 Daughters
2 Janet Wayman born 1847 in Barbados married Robert Boxill ( There are many Boxill Surnames in Barbados)
so we can assume Robert was local to the area they had 2 children Robert born 1870 Barbados
and Janet born 1872 Barbados who were his parents ?
1 Susan Wayman born 1854 married Duncan MacNaught in Barbados he was born 1848 in Greenock Scotland
when did Duncan come to Barbados ?
they had 4 children all born Barbados
the first being born 1874 the last 1882
Robert Wayman Died 15 th June 1875 age 57and is buried at
St Leonard Bowen, G.T.Curate St Ambrose Barbados ( where is this ?)
No indication of a death for his wife Janet Thomson did she die in Barbados ?
The MacNaught family returned to Greenock Scotland some time after the 1881 Census
due to Susan being in ill health. Janet Boxill and her 2 children also returned to Greenock
at the same Robert Boxill not being with her was he dead?
the question is WHY did Robert Wayman leave Scotland for Barbados.

Robert was a Painter & Glazer

My thinking is that Robert's burial was at St Leonard's cemetery, and that the officiating minister was the curate of St Ambrose.

I am descended from Robert Wayman and Janet Thomson on both my mother and my father's side of the family. I have done some research in Scotland but don't know much about their lives in Barbados.

Hi Marjorie Last April I spent 2 weeks in Barbados on holiday and on returning
I was showing friends at the local art club in Glenrothes my holiday snaps
when one of the ladies said she would like to visit Barbados as her Grandfather
was born there Duncan McNaught the son of Duncan McNaught and Susan Wayman
The daughter of Robert Wayman & Janet Thomson
so I then proceeded to some research for her and that why I posted to the barbados site
I see your maiden name is Calder in my research the calder name comes up
1881 census 21 Graffen st Glasgow
John Calder head age 34 born Glasgow letter press printer employing 6 men 3 app. 7 boys 1 girl (master)
Williamina Calder wife age 29 born Greenock
Annie Wayman sister in law age 75 born Barbados (British Subject )
John Gordon Calder son age 1 born Glasgow

The lady who came to your talk and mentioned Duncan Macnaught would have been our cousin. I am trying to find out now what Duncan, our grandfather, did in WWI. Perhaps Flora can add to that. I will find out!

Hi Norrie,
Robert Wayman, son of William Wayman and Ann Craig, was the brother of my great great grandfather, John Wayman. My family notes say that Robert was a painter in Barbados married to Janet Thomson so clearly the same one!
I don't know any more aboit Robert but am currently researching Willaim Wayman's background. he was a signalman in the Royal Navy and I believe served on the Cornwallis in 1810 but no more info at present.
