I am looking for information on the family of Robert and Sarah Pilch.
I believe he was born abt. 1780. and married before 1798. I have not been able to discover Sarah's maiden name.
Children from this marriage include: Matthew Pilch, Rose (nee Thornton) Cutting, Luke Pilch, Joseph Pilch, James Pilch, Peter Pilch and Wynne (nee Pilch) Doughty.
I have not been able to find anything on Matthew, so I believe that he died in childhood. I also believe that Rose later immigrated to Canada with her brothers: Joseph, James, and Peter. But, did she leave her children behind? According to Canadian records, she is later referred to as Rosamond? Sadly, Luke lived in a workhouse in Aylsham and was in trouble with the law. He was estranged from his wife, who had two illegitimate children.
Any further insights into this family would be greatly appreciated.

Rose (nee Thornton) Cutting
Does that mean she wasn't a Pilch? If so, could she have been born before the marriage, meaning that Sarah could have been Sarah Thornton?

There is a marriage for Robert Pilch and Hannah Thompson 30 Dec 1788 in Witton
then a baptism for Lydia daughter of Robert and Hannah Pilch 24 July 1879 in Blickling
then a burial of Hannah Pilch 19 May 1791 in Blickling
could your Robert be the widower of Hannah

Sorry for the confusion. Rose was married twice. She married John Thornton on March 11, 1818 in Blickling, Norfolk, England. She later married Cornelius Charles Cutting on June 27, 1841 in Vaughan, Home District, Ontario, Canada.

Thanks, The Yokel. I wish I could find a marriage record for Robert and Sarah. This would help determine if he was a widower.

maybe they didn't marry
Rose also had a son Henry 28 Nov 1817 Blickling

Matthew Pilch was age 3 when he was baptized the same day as Rose Pilch.
So if Robert and Sarah married 1796-1798 is possible.
