Old Monkland Churchyard Lair Owners in 1881.
Originally compiled March 1881 by Alexander McGregor Mitchell, architect, at the request of the Old Monkland heritors and with information supplied principally by William Russell, sexton of the churchyard for “seventeen years past”, an office previously held by his father and grandfather before him for a period of eighty-three years.
This list must have been added to afterwards as there is a date of 1895 against one of the names.

Thanks to you I now know where my wife's maternal GGG Grandfather was interred.  Thank you for your efforts. He was the farmer Law at Ellis Muir but I could not find any record of his burial. Many thanks!

Rev. John Clark Neil, MA BD died Liverpool 01 Jan 1937 buried before 09 Jan 1937 service was at the Buchanan St, EU Church and burial Old Monkland Cemetery.

I thought he was buried in Liverpool but came across his obit and tribute in Ardrie & Coatbridge Examiner.  I'm hoping his spouse a GG Aunt, Isabella McDonald who died in 1948 is there as well.
