Hi I don't know if anybody can help me I'm trying to trace my grandad, Charles William Whiley, we can't seem to trace his birth record and the closest I can find is for erpingham, volume 4b, page 75. Would anybody be able to advise if I can get hold of the certificate and how I would go about it please? Any help gratefully received. I've got his marriage and death certificate but don't think his date of birth is right on there we are estimating between 1907-1909!

You can purchase it from the GRO for £9.25 using the references you have

There is another one who died in Liverpool district in 1976, birth date according to death index is 29 Dec 1907. Can't find a matching birth reg, probably in Q1 1908.

I think he may have been registered in Northampton district under his mother's maiden name as parents didn't marry until after he was born.

Hi he died 5th oct 1976 in Liverpool he had a brother I think is Albert Henry Whiley we can't work out why he was registered in Norfolk as his dad and brother appear on Northampton records? And no idea of mothers maiden name hence the confusion and not knowing where to start! Thanks again for replies extremely grateful

His birth isn't registered in Norfolk
As he was born before his parents married his birth reg would be in his mother's maiden name -which is (we think) "Going"
I posted his most probable birth reg as Charles W Going mar qtr 1908 Northampton
He appears on census as Whiley marries and dies as Whiley
it looks like his mum married as Jane Going (married Joseph Whiley)
Her full name was probably Mary Jane Going but she seemed to used her middle name as a forename

the 1901 cenus is a little strange -according to the 1901 summary book they are at the same address as 1891
Yet when you look at the 1901 census image the first part of bridge St is entered by the numbers but inhabitants have been omitted - just a blank
