Title: ALBERT GRAY
Post by: thegraylady on Tuesday 13 September 16 13:18 BST (UK)
Hi, I'm looking for any information on my great Uncle Albert Gray,(1888-1982) who moved to Canada around 1908-1912 from Kent. I know he married an Elizabeth Wellcoat in 1913 and died in Canada in 1982, but know very little of his life. I believe he was in the Royal Medical Corps in the War but know nothing after that.

Any help greatly appreciated!
Many thanks
Lisa

Albert Gray 26 male nurse arrived London 8 Sep 1914 from Montreal on Ruthenia.
This fits with his Service Record which shows service in RAMC before he emigrated to Canada and that he was either recalled or re enlisted for war service. The record is on Ancestry and is quite lengthy , so well worth a look if you haven't already done so ( note there are several black images in the middle of the sequence but the records continue thereafter ).

?field, I think is Fairfield, a community within the township of Elizabethtown (aka Brockville) which is where Elizabeth's sister Jennie/Janet is with her husband Stewart Acheson in the 1921 Canadian census.

Another border crossing at Morristown, NY in May 1913,
Gray, Albert, age 25, married, b. England, occ. prison attendant, last permanent address Brockville,
going to New York, NY, relative sister-in-law Mrs. Stewart Achison, New Dublin (also a community
within Elizabethtown).

 ;D

Counties/towns/townships and the rearranging and renaming enough to drive a person mad,
namely me, and I live in Ontario.

The Mrs. James Achison, is that starting to look like Mrs. Jennie, or is that just wishful thinking
on my part.  ??? ;D

Cheers,
DB

RK    Thanks  ;D Interesting article, loved the Bains Grocery.

GL     You're welcome.  ;D There is a WW2 Army Enlistment Record for Albert Gray in 1941, (would have been age 52ish if it's him) Manchester, NH, widow, in the National Guard, rank Staff Sergeant Medical Corps.

Hi everyone
I am related to the Wellcoat tree via John Robertson Wellcoat (1891) my grandfather, son of John Philp Wellcoat and Mary Bowman Robertson.
My mother Iris Brown Wellcoat (1925) was John's only child to Margaret Brown.

I don't have much on Albert Gray apart from knowing his children to Elizabeth Wellcoat were:
Dorothy Evelyn Gray married Louis Rojek
James Roland Gray married Stefania Duperon

any further information on Albert's parents, siblings would be great :
