Title: French Congo West Africa 1900's
Post by: dodger123 on Tuesday 20 September 16 10:31 BST (UK)
Hi,
I found out that my Grandfather William Wallace Rodger was in the French Congo, West Africa after the 1911 Scottish Census and left Congo Port Lopez around 10 Dec 1915 for UK (via Le Havre France) to join the Royal Scots. I have been unsuccessful in finding any record of this trip. From military records he sailed 2nd class on a French mail ship the SS Asie, which I believe is at the bottom of the ocean. If anyone has any ideas on where to look, I would be very grateful for your input.  Also would there be any West African records to find out what my grandfather would have been doing in the Congo in his early 20's.
Cheers,
Phil
