Hi, have you checked out the 1911 census in searching for Rose? There are a number of Rose's around this time, although not in the same area. Did Rose have any other children? If she died before 1991, and she was still living in 1939, you can trace her through the 1939 register. Are there any additional details on the birth certificate which could give clues?

A Rose A McManus married Arthur Frost in Newcastle in 1917.  Did your father have any half siblings?

There is also a Rose Mcmanus b1870 d1914 in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne district. It may be worth ordering this death certificate to see if they are one and the same person. Further records seem to reveal that this was misspelt, and she was actually born Rosa, not Rose, however; she was christened and born 1868 to Catholic parents.

I expect that Tyne and Wear Archives would have them but all I can see on their online catalogue is about the architects.  Perhaps you might be better at searching than I am

Hi

Was your father subsequently adopted or was he raised by Rose?

What other info do you have about her apart from her name?

Thanks KB

Ed - you never answered my question re half siblings on your duplicate thread so we have no idea if the 1917 marriage was correct.    Did you check out the Workhouse records as advised?

To avoid any further duplication of info I will ask the moderator to merge this post with your 2016 one

Hi I don't know if I am contacting you via the correct means but I wish to apologise for contacting the site for a search . I think I posed a question in 2016 concerning my father William McManus and his mother Rose McManus . I then received some excellent information . I then became very ill and was unable to continue the search . I recently decided to start again but didn't realise that I was on the same site . I must apologise for this and thank everybody for the excellent work an information supplied . I have now been able to apply to get a copy of birth certificates, death certificates and copies of records from the workhouse . I am so sorry for the double enquiry but thanks to you all I am on the right track.
Kind regards
Eddie McManus .

Hi Eddie,

I have merged your two topics for you.

I was sorry to hear you have been so poorly, Glad to see you back on the search again.

Regards

Sarah

I think we can rule out the 1917 marriage.  Rose A Frost born about 1899 died 1968 Northumberland.  With that birthyear she would only have been 13 yrs old when your father was born
