Hi ,
i'm at a dead end & going round in circles .
I have a George Smith who states in all the cencus's he was born in Airlie.
On his death certificate in 1887 (age 68) it says his parents were David Smith ( a crofter) & Elizabeth Lowrie?...however i cant find a birth for George around 1817-1821 in Airlie.
The only one i can find is to David Smith & Elizabeth Herald in Airlie. in 1819....now i cant find anything else on either of the parents :(....George seems to be the only child .
perhaps the Lowrie is a misprint ....oh i dont know ...i feel a headache comming on .
happy new year to everyone at week-end :)

1841 Westhill , Airlie , Angus(all born Angus).
John Lawrie 60 labourer
Elisabeth Lawrie 53
John Lawrie 15
Jean Lawrie 13
(FreeCEN)
SP has a 1879 death for an Elizabeth Herald age 93 , St Clement(Dundee) Angus , the index has the same details for an Elizabeth Lawrie age 93 , St Clement(Dundee) Angus.

AH! eventually worked it out (duh!) ::)
parents of George were "David Smith" & "Elisabeth Herald" (not married .
she went on to marry John Lawrie, and David went on to marry Amelia Lindsay.
it makes sense now why he has his mother as Lawrie on his death ct. ( i had been looking for Lowrie..)...which the correct family you have Ev for the 1841 cencus . as this is George's mother and her family
thanks , ;D
