Title: Coverleys in Portugal
Post by: naturalhistory on Friday 06 January 17 15:54 GMT (UK)
Hello to all members, :)

I am fairly new in this chat.
I’ve posted last year to see if someone could help me but unfortunately I had no luck.

I am trying to find living relatives in England of the Coverley’s that lived in Oporto.

I know that the last ones went to live in England back in the 40s and 50s of the XXth century.
The scarce information I was able to collect:

Henry Denys Coverley (b. 1917) got married in 1941 with Pauline Rosamond Charles in St. Marylebone, London. As far as I know, they lived in 52 Devon Rd, Cheam, Surrey, England (at least after 1950). I think they had 3 sons:
As far as I know, they lived in Surrey, England (at least somewhere after 1950).

I am not a british citizen but, as I mentioned, in my first post, I am trying to find any living relative who might give me some information concerning one of the Coverley’s (Henry Denys father). My interest would pass to publish something (an article, for example) as he was a proeminent person back in my country.

I hope anyone can give me some lights as I am quite “stuck” in my research, right now  :(

Cheers to all  :)

Jorge

Hi Jorge

Welcome back to Rootschat  ;D

I had to remove the names of the sons as they could still be living and we have a 'no living people' policy here

In our guidelines for posting

http://www.rootschat.com/help/posting_guide.php

there are a couple of links for finding missing people, what have you tried to do so far?

Hi bemvindo1

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

Jorge who started this topic has done a lot of work on the Coverley family tree over the years and a lot has been discovered since this post was made.

I have been chatting with him off-topic as his request has been to find living members of the family.

He knows that some of the family returned to England.

I would like him to be able to make contact with you by personal message as his requests are quite specific but you need to have one more post to be able to use the system.

To increase your post count, could you reply and tell me which of Henry Waldo's children you are descended from?

I will inform him that you have replied on topic and hope he is able to come back soon.

Dawn

I am a descendant of Thomas Coverley who survived the Abeona disaster along with his younger brother Charles.

The (Scottish) Coverley family can trace its roots back to Edinburgh.  Charles Coverley and his family were on their way to South Africa in 1820 when disaster struck.  They were participants of the 1820 Settler Scheme hosted by the British Government to encourage emigration to the Eastern Cape.

Hi Geraldinho

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

I have been working with Jorge off-forum and know quite a bit now about the family.

I will send him a message that you have posted here.

If you can increase your post count to 2, he and others can then share their email addresses off-forum and make contact.
