Title: Help with finding my Great Grandfathers death records
Post by: GGYD on Wednesday 11 January 17 13:23 GMT (UK)
Hello good people of the forum.
I've tried Ancestry and FindMyPast but cannot find details of my G Grandfathers death, I hope someone can help please.
His name is William Robert Brown, year of birth 1879 Londonderry Ireland.Joined the Royal Field Artillery in 1900, He served in WW1 then went to India til 1919, from 1922 he's on the London Electoral Registers. Last known address Drill Hall Ennersdale Road SE13 Lewisham Dated 1937.  (London, England Electoral Registers 1832-1965 on Ancestry).
Cannot find him on the 1939 register or find a grave.com, Maud is his wife and Ena his Daughter.
I hope this is enough information, and thank you for your time.

Have you tried the free sites such as FreeBMD and the GRO site, often much better for finding deaths?

Ahh so not the right age. GGYD - you have to buy credits to see the details of the burial.

Snap rosie, should type faster  ;D

ADDED: Might be worth contacting Bereavement Services of Lewisham Council for information about the Mar 1945 death & burial. I found them very helpful [my grandparents grave is within their area].

The one on findagrave was aged 61 and a builder so not the right man bur.3/8/1945 (death reg'd Sept.1945) so the death Mar.qtr.1945 still a possibility.

What became of wife Maud Margaret and dau. Ena as I can't see anything likely for them in records after 1937.

Phlys Ruby b 9-5-07 Exeter
Eva Margarett b 12-8-13 S. Farnborough
Monica Isobel Dorian b 5-9-16 Farnborough.

(Mauds surname is actually McKeowen, married Holy Trinity, Exeter. Grooms age 20, spouse 23).

In 1920 He is listed as Absent voter from 8 Park Rd, Farnborough.
Brown, William Robert 3646 B.S.M 504th Bty. R.F.A.

He attested Belfast 18-1-1899 stated age 20.
Discharged Jan 1921, Para 392 (xxi), address on discharge Drill Hall, Ennersdale Rd, Hither Green.
Attestation/Service can be found under service number 1040246.

All this really does is make birth year of 1879 more likely.

Thank you ScOOp, I have all that information on him, I also have his birth certificate that I can't attach because the file is too big, but it does say December 1879. And Maud's maiden name was McKeown. Just Williams death I can't work out!
