Title: Roydon near Diss
Post by: hunterterri58 on Thursday 19 January 17 20:55 GMT (UK)
Hello again!
Now I have an ancester that was married in Roydon, near Diss in 1759.  His children are all born there, but I cannot find either him or his wifes birth.  It does not appear that the records are on line.

His name is Thomas Baldery and his wife is Elizabeth Wicks.  I am guessing that they would be born around 1730, but I can find nothing on Ancestry at all.

Any thoughts please?
Terri

There is a Thomas Baldry  who witnessed the marriage of Samuel Wicks to Mary Dixon 11 July 1774 at Bressingham.
Is Samuel Wicks a nephew?

Thomas was not born Diss there is a John Balderow and Ann nee West who married at Bressingham 12 October 1726, having children at Diss 1727-1746 as John Baldery and Ann.
John 1727-1731
Sarah 1730
Ann 1733
Mary 1735
John 1736
Lydia 1739
Fanny 1742
Edward 1744
Edward 1745
John 1746-1748

Thomas Baldery left a will its at the Norfolk Record Office Ref NCC Will 1809 ref Bone 36.
When he died he was recorded as age 76 making DOB about 1733

**So how about Thomas Balderow bap 24 April 1734 of Richard and Susan at Bressingham.
Its close to Roydon near Diss

Susanna Boldrey daughter of Thomas Baldrey and Elizabeth nee Wicks is the one who married Joseph Corben 26 September 1788 at Roydon near Diss.
Witness are Robert Bryant (he marries her sister Sarah) and Samuel Newson

Daughter Elizabeth Baldry married John Huggins 13 October 1788 at Roydon near Diss.
Witness Joseph Corbin (Susanna' husband) and Sarah Bryant. (her sister)

Daughter Sarah Baldery married Robert Bryant possibly October 1787, I found the banns at Diss
for 16,23,30 September 1787. Have not found the ceremony yet.

Thomas Baldrey came from Bressingham and Samuel Wicks/Wix was a witness to his marriage to Elizabeth Wicks.

The following may be useful, Norfolk Records Office
Will of Samuel Wix of Bressingham died 1788, Ref: ANF 1774-1778 folio 418 no 113.

Also Deeds of property of Samuel Wix  in Roydon and Diss dated 1778  ref: BRA 641/70, 734x1
Index states it also contains a copy of the will of Samuel Wix.

You could get some clues on the family tree.
