I’m researching my great grandparents from county Kerry, Martin Kennelly (b1855) and Ellen Enright (b.1858.)
I believe Ellen was from Ballylongford and Martin was Ballybunion?
Martin’s parents were James Kennelly and Margaret Diggon . Ellen’s parents were John Enright and Margaret Irving. I believe they each had several siblings but I cannot not tell from the church records who were directly related. Ellen may have had a brother John J. Enright.
This is what I have found and can “partially confirm” the information with other records. In some cases the birth years may be off by one year, and there may be a variation on the name. The birth year being off could be due to some of the other records I am comparing to are approximated ages. Names can either be transcription errors or a preference to go another name or by a middle name?

I assumed as they probably worked as farm labour that a change in location every few years would not be unusual?
If anyone has further information on the Kennellys or Enrights in the Ballylongford area it would be appreciated.
Thanks

When you cut & paste large amounts of information it can be difficult to follow all the details (if you've found the records in the online Parish Registers then you can post the link to the relevant page with a shorter explanation).
Have you looked at the available civil certificates at all? (births, deaths & Catholic marriages from 1864)? some not yet online but should be added eventually-

Ballyconry, Ballyconry civil parish https://www.townlands.ie/kerry/ballyconry2/
Ballyline East & Ballyline West in Aghavallen civil parish https://www.townlands.ie/search/?q=ballyline
Tarbert is a village, townland in Kilnaughton civil parish https://www.townlands.ie/search/?q=tarbert

Thank you aghadowey for the tip on linking directly.
I have mainly searched the church records and not the civil records. I will try the links you provided.
Thanks again.

Hi Terry_R
The Enright's, I am from this family.
Glin on the River Shannon is where to start, mine went from there south to Athea, Cool West, Athlacca, Sherins Cross and Kilmallock and then they spread out.
I have gone back on line as far as 1779, but I am meeting up with a cousin who has info going back earlier so if I find anything out I will let you know.
The siblings that were in Glin went to Ballylongford, Listowel and Tralee and spread out.
Then some went to the USA and Canada.
The Enright and Clifford's that ended up in Canada are related to my line, I told story's and they confirmed them. The Clifford's were from Adare.
The Kerry Enright's are harder to find as the Kerry records havn't been on line very long.
I went to the Library in Dublin, spent days there and now it's easier.

Hi Maggsie,
I guess we are some form of distant cousins.
i know a lot of the Kennelly Enright families went to the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and then later spread out to surrounding states (NY, NJ,IL) and to Ontario.
I have come across records for other Enrights in Ontario but have never been able to directly connect them to the family.
I also know there is another large family of Kennellys in Ontario that came here about 30 years prior to my Kennelly family arriving, once again not sure of the connection.

My great grand mother came from Ballylongford and her mother was Catherine Enright . Her parents married in 1860 ,her father was Michael Scanlan . She was one 11 children ,most of them baptised in Ballylongford . Unfortunately these names are very common in Kerry and it all gets very confusing

Hi Catherine,
Yes. way too many common names and very confusing. I think we should just label everyone a cousin and leave it at that.

Hi,
it's been awhile since you posted this.
I have a Catherine Enright who married a Patrick Shanahan 1850s/1860s. They too were from Ballylongford and came to Dublin. Patrick was a gardener and the family lived in Clontarf where they still are now.
Does any of this tie in with your Enright's ?

Hi,
For Terry-r,
I was going through my docs. the other day and you did say...…..
I have come across records for other Enrights in Ontario but have never been able to directly connect them to the family.
Was this a William Enright born in Limerick and died in Toronto?
He married Mary Jane Teeling.
If it was then this family came from Adare, County Limerick.
I know this family.
