Title: Taylor
Post by: avotier on Wednesday 15 February 17 15:03 GMT (UK)
I have searched Ancestry for either a marriage or death for a George Taylor born 1908 in Nottingham
.Father was Salathiel Taylor and his mother was Hannah Biddulph.
Found his birth and also saw him on the 1911 census.
I have not been able to find him has anyone got another research site they would be willing to check for me.

                        thank you

Have you got his exact date of birth, as George Taylor is a very common name?

Have you found the family in 1939?

Have you looked for him on the 1939 register?  If he was married by then it would at least give you his wife's name

Although he was born in Notts - he may not have married there.  Freebmd has 24 marriages for a George Taylor between 1928-1938 in Notts and no way of knowing which one is yours without more info.

If you know the names of any of his children you can look up their birth on freebmd as it will give you the mothers maiden name

GRO has Arthur, 1903, John, 1905, Henry, 1907, Mary, 1911, Lucy, 1909, Ann, 1904, for Taylor/Biddulph, plus others.

Parents married 1897 RD Nottingham

Salathiel died just before the 1911 census so have you found George with Hannah on the 1911 census?

Think Salathiel died in Nottingham in 1942, age 65.

A Salathiel Taylor died March qtr 1911 so he must be Salathiel jnr father.

GRO has Arthur, 1903, John, 1905, Henry, 1907, Mary, 1911, Lucy, 1909, Ann, 1904,

Henry's birth was December qtr 1907 so he would have been 3yrs old at the time of the census giving a rough birthyear of 1908

1911 shows a George aged 3 plus Ann, Lucy & Kate but no Henry

There are also a lot more children born to Taylor/ Biddulph than show in 1911.  Florence 1900 & Hannah 1901.  The 1901 only shows Thomas aged 1

The answers to the 1911 question re: children born & still living do not correspond to the GRO entries and there is no other Taylor/Biddulph marriage

Hi,

On deceased online it has  Salathiel Taylor buried 10 August 1911 a bit late for a March death so month could be transcribed wrong and a Salathiel Taylor buried on 28  Feb 1942, I can check General, Church (Rock) and Basford Cemetery's for you next time I'm in Nottingham Archives next week  if you like and see who else is in graves.

Hi Nottsgirl
That would be brilliant so many thanks for doing this, yes 1942 was the date for Salathiel.
Salathiels brother Samuel was my grandfather but he left home young and joined the navy for 20yrs and never spoke of his family.

Salathiel is in several family trees on Ancestry, including some that are private, and one that claims that Lucy Taylor, 1909, married John Hills in 1928, and the tree owner appears to be descended from them - worth trying to contact them for more information?
