Post by: wrjones on Monday 20 February 17 22:59 GMT (UK)
I'm unable despite my best efforts to find the grave of my Grandfather Joseph Durber who died I believe in Bagillt Flintshire in 1940.

Have you got his death certificate with his last address? Most people were buried near where they lived.

Death registered December qtr 1940 Holywell

Did the the Holywell RD include Bagillt as it's not mentioned here?

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/holywell.html

If he died very late December he may only have been buried in 1941.  Do you know his address at the time of his death or the actual date of his death?

Thanks Groom,no I don't hold his death certificate. He was living in Bagillt Flintshire but not to be seen among the MIs for Bagillt Church.I'm also told he is not buried in the New Brighton Road Cemetery.Yes the Holywell RD did include Bagillt.

As a completely wild outside chance,as Joseph Durber had very strong links with Stoke-on-Trent,I've contacted them this evening just to enquire whether he was buried there.I think it very unlikely though as we have to remember it was wartime.

Well this is why I looked reluctantly at Stoke-on-Trent as my Grandmother who died as Sarah Hackney is buried at Carmountside Cemetery Stoke-on-Trent.

I noticed his wife remarried in 1947 and that their youngest daughter died in Staffs in 1952 aged 27 - presumably connected to childbirth
