Title: Haldens from Stafford to Leicester
Post by: andyhalden on Monday 13 March 17 11:23 GMT (UK)
Working through our family history and I have 2 Halden brothers from Stafford moving with the shoe industry to Leicester . I was wondering if they were the start of the Haldens in Leicester ?
I have Mathew going first and by 1911 his younger brother Herbert joins him . Any existing Haldens in Leicester out there ?

I'm not seeing any Haldens in Leicestershire in 1911?

There is a Matthew (b 1877) in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire on the 1911 census.
Herbert F (b 1888) is also in West Bridgford.

Yep . They're mine . I have a feeling that anymore thereafter must be in our line but haven't got many sons coming out of them . Interesting

Herbert marries in Leicester in 1913.
They have 3 children, born 1914-1917, mother's maiden name of Maloney.

Because they might still be alive, I won't name them.
You can look them up on FreeBMD! ;D

Matthew marries in Leicester in 1905.
Can't see any children?

I wonder if your Haldens are related to any of mine in Stafford?
How far back have you got?

I do have a number of Herbert's, but none seem to match yours, nor do I have a Matthew.

My Haldens for a starting point are William Halden and Mary Sargent who married in Stafford 1773.

There is also another William kicking about that time who married a Grezel Spillbury, but they are not my side.

I know Enoch Halden spent time in Leicester as he was a preacher for the Quakers, he died there in 1875, but his family stayed on in Stafford.

Any of those names tie in with your Stafford Halden's
