Dawn can you give dates of births/baptism of Anastasia & Denis - there will not be any Civil Cert as registration only began in 1864. Do you know place of residence in Cork.

No Sorry I have only a rough date of birth as 1835 ish and an address on their daughters marriage cert as Barrack Street, their daughter was born 1868.

Looked at RC Parish Register for Marshalstown & I dont see their marriage for the date you gave.
What is their daughters name b.1868? Is it Barrack St in Cork City you mean? Where did you get the marriage details.

Just to clarify a few things - Did Anastasia & Denis live in Co Cork?
When Mary married was it in Waterford? Do you have her birth record as it would show where they lived when she was born.
On the Griffiths Valuation at www.nationalarchives.ie there is a record for a Denis Whelan in 1852 in Curraghgorm Marshalstown Co Cork.

Mary married in Waterford, just found her record on family search that was Wexford

1911 index shows Mary as born Enniscorthy, Wexford which would fit with Marshalstown area.

Found that birth but it only says 'female'. There are also births for James 1869 and Denis 1866 with the same parents.
If Dennis and Anastatia married in 1856, you would think there would be mire children.

In addition to those on FS there is this one
James 16 Feb 1863 - he presumably died because of the later one on FS.
I can't see the baptism on March 26th though :-\
I have found others on Anc. With deaths too I think - also transcribed as Whelon so look for variations. You can then check them as I said on Catholic records.

I would say yes and have seen it before. Sometimes you see Statia/ Stasia too which would be more obvious. I have found that Anastasia is very popular in Wexford.
My husband's family have a couple of Anastasia Clearys but not yours :)

Hi Anastasia Cleary Married Denis Whelan In October 1856 in Marshalstown, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. They Lived in the Shannon in Enniscorthy, they had three children that I have found so far Denis was born in January 1866
Patrick was born around 1860
James was born around 1870
