Hi There,
Trying to find the missing years of my late father Spencer Gerald Workman who was born in London in 1917 and went to Wanstead High School in East London Essex. Apparently there are no records of this school anymore that my half sister has tried to locate. His Mother split from her husband Benjamin Lester Workman who apparently wasn't the father of Spencer. Trying to find out what he did
in his early years prior to the age of thirty. Know he later married in England before he left for Australia in his mid 30's. He did run a Scrap Metal business after WW2 in London. Ann

Hi Ann,
You had posted this at the end of your PERRIN topic on the New Zealand boards although it refers to a completely different individual.
I have split off your post and created this new topic for you.
Did Spencer Gerald WORKMAN have a New Zealand connection, or should I move this topic to the Australia board, perhaps?

No idea what the information will contain, someone will need to have a nosey to see. There is a snippet in "The Truth" newspaper for a Gerald Workman, on the 8 October 1963, page 18. Might not be the same man, but if he was known by his middle name.
Cheers

Hi Spades, Yes sorry for the delay Spencer Gerald did end up for the last 6 years of his life living in New Zealand in Wellington. He apparently worked as a hospital warden before settling down with a new partner Jane Treufelt and had two more daughters. Unsure if he did marry Jane but noted on his death certificate she is referred to as his partner with her previous married name on it. AnnAus

Hi Spades, have you managed to find anything more about Spencer Gerald Workman who was born in England 1917 to Frances Violet Baker and Benjamin Lester Workman. There was a big age difference between the two and she was 8 mths pregnant at the time of marriage. After his Mother's death there is a big blank in Spencer's life till first married that was short lived then he travelled to Australia in the early 1950's and later to New Zealand. Thanks AnnAus

Hi Ann,
I've just discovered a likely death notice for his partner Jane TREUFELDT, published in the The New Zealand Herald on Sept. 7, 2016;
WORKMAN, Jane Johanna Maria (Jane) (nee Treufeldt). Born Valga, Estonia on 28 February 1922. Died peacefully aged 94 on Saturday 3 September 2016 surrounded by family and friends at Acacia Park Resthome, Tauranga. Loved mother and mother-in-law of...(names of living persons follow, so not quoted).

It would pay you to read the posted comments, as they are likely to lead to descendants. You can also post your own comments.

By the way, I cannot see a marriage between Spencer Gerald WORKMAN and Jane TREUFELDT up to 1956.
