The above married Gordon L Reed b Q4 1928 Yarmouth and married there Q1 1953, they had a son born there in 1954. Betty seems to have emigrated to Victoria, Australia as she is on their electoral rolls 1972-1980 but neither her husband or son appear there. Searching for her husband I came across a gravestone for Gordon Leonard Reed b 22 Oct 1928 d 25 May 1982 at Waveney, Suffolk but his wife was Brenda Mary also buried there who d Jan. 22 2007.
I can find no record for Betty's emigration and can only think that she divorced or was divorced before she left the UK?
What do you think?

Just wondering whether it definitely says wife - Brenda Mary Reed's birthdate is given as 27/11/1928 and a Brenda M. Reed was born Dec.qtr.1928 Leicester. Wondered if she could have been a cousin perhaps?? There was certainly no marriage between the two (not in UK anyway).

That might explain an absence of a marriage between the two :) I couldn't find one either. What is Betty's mmn? That might shed some light if both sets of parents can be identified.
Good luck

No photo to back up the information though - findagrave is getting a bit like online trees, not always to be trusted. ;D
Can't see them listed on here

There is photo of the gravestone with both their names on it and if you copy and paste the link I posted you should see it. I can.

Looking at the gravestone it would imply that Gordon and Brenda were husband and wife.

Thank you,
I was trying another link for it which obviously was not working ;D ::)
There is a Brenda M Reed appearing on electoral registers in Lowestoft immediately before this death which might be worth investigating.

Just posting to confirm -
Death registration of Brenda gives alternative surnames Reed / Lawn. This ties in with birth of Br.. Etheridge Mitford reg dist Dec qtr 1928 and marriage in 1948 to Lawn. No further details as all possibly living.

Name of Deceased: REED, Gordon Leonard 66 Rotterdam Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk, unemployed. Date of death 25th May 1982.....
Names, addresses and descriptions of Persons to whom notices of claims are to be given and names, in parentheses, of Personal Representatives:..... (Brenda Mary Reed and Evelyn Maud Smith.)

That is handy as the address ties in with later records ;D

It seems from the Australian post that Betty Jean was divorced and then spent her life in Australia where she died. Maybe Gordon and Brenda decided not to marry ;)
-
Certainly seems that way as we can find no marriage for the pair unless they went abroad which wasn't that popular pre 1967 unless they married much, much later?

As Brendas death was registered as Reed and her previous married name I would suspect that they did not marry
-
Her ex husband seems to have married in 1971 at Norwich and was living there with new wife 2002-201 before his death 2015 Cromer.
