Any help app.

Hello,
People would love to help, I am sure but you need to help us.
You have given surnames and place but no years of birth, marriage etc nor any first names.
We need more information please - especially what records you already have so we don't repeat that.
Regards
Heywood

I can't see Annie in 1901 census.
Where are your family in 1911?
-
Where do you get the information re Gaughan and Killala from? How sure is that?
I wonder if you mean that they were married in the Diocese of Killala?
There is a Patrick and Honor (Gaughan) with children born abt 1870. There is Honor b 1873 but that is the closest I can see to Annie born abt 1877 :-\
-
You are asking about my family in 1911both Annie and Patrick went to America in1905 but the gallaghers were stil in shagraddy Bangor erris hope you receive this ok(darty)
-
Not really sure about gaughan family I only know that when Annie died in America in1917it says her mothers maiden name was gaughan (darty)

Yes, I found the Gallaghers but not your couple but that is now explained.
Does Annie's year of birth remain fairly constant in US censuses and her death?
I have just checked this ship's manifest - the Cedric, March 1905. There are separate entries for Patrick and Annie both going to a Gaughan cousin in Philadelphia. Is that them?
It states that Annie's last place of residence was Bangor but that she has American nationality.
-
Family Search shows a couple of Annie Collins in 1900 census for Philadelphia.
Do you have any US information - addresses, birth dates etc
-
Yes these are my grandparents
-
Yes these are my grandparents
Yes, I know that Annie Collins and Patrick Gallagher are your grandparents.
I asked if you have any US information re your grandparents as their Immigration records show that Annie had American citizenship.
Have you found Annie in 1900 USA census or 1901 Irish census.
As I said, I couldn't see her in Ireland and when the records showed US, I wondered if you knew where they went to - was she already in Philadelphia before her marriage?
Did they stay there after emigrating to cousin John Gaughan?
-
I don't know all I know is Annie died in 1915and my dad was brought to Ireland and was brought up by his grandparents in Bangor Mayo
-
Thank you.
Do you know where your dad was born in US? I am trying to find them in 1910 to see if it says that Annie was born in US or Ireland.
Was your dad the only child or did he have siblings?
-
Thanks yes my dad born in phillideliphia jan10 1910 two brothers James and Patrick (joseph)not sure which Christian name he used he was left in America only the ones taken to Ireland Anthony and James thanks what y doin for me
-
Here is a reference for Annie's death.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JDRT-S7J
I hope you can view the death certificate. I couldn't at first but then it worked. It states she was born in Ireland 1878 but date not known.
-
Would this be a child?
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VB13-V1J
The births are not covered after 1906 on FS and the certificate cannot be viewed.

I can't find Anna/Annie Collins at all.
The only one I can see is the one mentioned before, Honor/Honour Collins - parents Pat and Honour Gaughan although she was born 1872.
They would be related to or part of the Collins family, Cloontakilla. Does that ring any bells?
-
It doesn't ring any bells to me but as you say they went to America and said they were go into a cousin called gaughan would you be able to send me some info on this or where would I be able to see it
-
At first I thought you were in US but then with your dad being brought back, that perhaps you were in Mayo and might know of some connection with Cloontakilla.
Here is the Ellis Island site
https://www.libertyellisfoundation.org
You need to register - it's free and then look at Passenger Search.
It is a bit fiddly - it used to be easier. They sailed on the Cedric March 1905

Thanks so much no I am in uk it's a long story dad came to uk and worked he met my mum and got married to her that is why I am here where are you
-
It is so strange that we can't find Annie's birth but got info when she died
-
Thanks so much no I am in uk it's a long story dad came to uk and worked he met my mum and got married to her that is why I am here where are you
Same here :)
-
I have looked on Ellis island site I can see Patrick but not Annie have yo Ben able to
-
I am just looking at the manifest with Annie on. She says America for Nationality and in reply to have you been here before and where - Philadelphia.
The cousin is John Gaughan 5052 Summer Street ( I think ) Philadelphia and I am sure that is the same for Patrick.
I did look but couldn't find a John G in Philadelphia who we could be certain of.
I know I keep going to Patrick and Honor Collins with daughter Honor/Honor. There are death on Irish genealogy for both these names but they are before the death certificates are shown. If all this were correct, Honor would be orphaned as a very young child.
However, she is a different age - b 1872 I think and she does show Ireland in the US census. :-\
-
I have looked on Ellis island site I can see Patrick but not Annie have yo Ben able to
Yes she is there - if you search by name, year and ship you should get her. Even without the ship, she shows as Bangor as last residence.
-
I'm getting a bit muddled who is john g
-
Sorry - I was looking for the John Gaughan in Philadelphia who might be the cousin.
Family Search has the US censuses.
-
I get you now I can't see how Annie was a American citizen do you ?
-
Not sure really. We can't find a relevant birth yet nor can we see her in 1901.
That's what makes me wonder if she was orphaned and sent or taken to US maybe.
-
I will get in touch later I have to go out we do know that she married in geesala in1905
-
