Part of finding my family roots has been to find their gravesites ... these sites and inscriptions may provide answers on wives and descendants that I am finding difficult to chase down. I am maimly interested in Major Denis Bingham of Bingham Castle who passed away 1842 and his son William Bingham (I have no date)

Thank you KGarrad ... The Bingham's were Church of Ireland and the areas in Mayo Ireland I have been searching are Ballina, Binghamstown (where he lived at Bingham castle) and Belmullet and I have also been searching in Dublin around Kilmore and also Dalkey where some uncles and brothers lived. Denis is my ggg grandfather (died 1842 a shooting accident), gg grandfather is William (died ???), g grandfather is Arthur Shaen (died 1915) and Grandfather Robert John Bingham (sailed to Sydney Australia in 1911)

He was 30 when he went to Belmullet and might have married anywhere.
He was "of Binghamstown", absentee Landlord, and could be buried anywhere.

Denis Bingham lived in Co. Mayo
according to this online tree Denis died at Bingham Castle LINK (http://moorecs.com/MOORE/HTMLFiles/HTMLFiles_05/P3880.html)
Burials at Binghamstown Cemetery start c1866 LINK (http://goldenlangan.com/graves-bt.html)
There is probably an earlier cemetery in the area or a private burial ground but no records unfortunately

If you look at the ordnance survey maps at LINK (http://map.geohive.ie/mapviewer.html)
Search for Binghamstown and use the feature on the left Base Information and Mapping
Here you can choose to view the 1837 version of the map
On it there is a Church and graveyard to the north of the town
This is the most probable burial place for an 1842 death

If they did have gravestones they probably wouldn't have lasted too long!
In 1882 the small farmland of Doolough, Mayo was in turmoil. “Many evictions had taken place in the preceding years in which the tenants were shown little mercy. At the time, the United Irish League were very active, some turning to arms to force the landlord to relinquish their estates.”1 Others were pushing to consolidate the hundreds of small subdivided farms, which were too small to sustain families, into larger workable pieces of land.
On October 3, 1881, one of the landlords Arthur Shaen Bingham who owned much of the land in Doolough and was on “bad terms” with many of his tenants was shot at while returning to Doolough from Belmullet. He had evicted many of his tenants from their farms. Some suspects were arrested, but later released, and he was given police protection

Great.......but he also asked about WILLIAM.
That's who I asked about William, being born about 1790.
I have found him and his Mother, I just need to know was he born about then.

Hi Maggsie .... I believe my William Bingham died 29 Jan 1848 and was born about 1990's to Major Denis Bingham and ??? ... William was a magistrate in Mayo, lived and died at Bay View House (either Ballina or outside Binghamstown) .. his son Arthur Shaen (Shane) Bingham was married in 1854 in Belmullet Church in Ballina and was a lifelong resident and owner of Doolough Lodge in Gweesala with his family.... this the only corrected info I have at the moment ... again thanks
