Elizabeth Matthew born 1892 in Twechar Scotland was working as a lacemaker in Ireland when war broke out.
She went to the 1st world war either as a Nurse or Ambulance driver.
Is it possible to source any records for women like her please, would love to see her war record.
She met and married a NZ soldier at the end of 1918 and came out to NZ.
Any leads to access or find out about war records greatly appreciated.

Scotlands People is the only website for that info. There is a free index but you have to pay to view the records. Marriages more than 75yrs old can be downloaded via purchase of credits
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search-our-records
Credits cost £0.25 each and are available in batches of 30 (£7.50) or 40 (£10) from the buy credits page. The number of credits and costs of digital images for the different record types are as follows:
Statutory registers of births (older than 100 years), marriages (older than 75 years) and deaths (older than 50 years) cost 6 credits (£1.50)

Quick check on the free index shows they married in 1918 so you can download the cert

Hello again, Dont really need the actual cert now, was trying to establish whether they married overseas or in NZ.
Have checked out a few web sites as to finding Elizabeths war service record. But no finds as yet.
We dont really know what she did other then she went from being a lacemaker in Ireland to war service.

I can see from your other posts you have details of her parent's.. a marriage certificate would give you her occupation ... ;)..Might be hard getting the other records good luck with your research :)

Oh, I hadnt thought of that, however family is sure her "real" occupation had been a lacemaker in Ireland prior to serving in the war. I will jut keep looking - might get lucky finding details somewhere, thanks for all your help.
