Title: John O'Malley
Post by: kiwi2011 on Saturday 22 April 17 16:29 BST (UK)
I found the attached death record for John O'Malley and I'm trying to determine if he's my relative. I think it reads that his location at death is Cushlecka which corresponds with my family. It mentions his daughter as being Mary Ann and I'd like to find a birth record for her which would hopefully tell me her mother's name. From there I'd like to see if I can get a marriage record that would confirm John's parent's names. Then I'd know if he's my John. Also having difficulty reading the info in box #8. Can anyone kindly help me with this? TIA

His death cert shows he's a retired seaman. Could that be the reason he's not on the census?

Thank you heywood, I have those. I'm trying to confirm if John, that dies in 1947 is their child. Although I already do have birth records for a John born in 1873.

Thomas Malley aka Omalley can be interchangeable on records, he is listed in 1901 and 1911 Census as you see in the Townland of Cuchlecka, Mulranny.

Thomas Malley married Mary Currigan in 1870, father of Thomas is listed as John Malley and father of Mary is Bryan Currigan. they married in kildowenet Church.

They had 10 children according to the 1911 census, one is a you say John Malley born 1873.another of the children James b 1893  died aged 4 days, the informant was  listed as father Thomas Malley  Cusklecka, his occupation was Fisherman.

The death record you have for John Malley in 1947 shows him as seaman, this could actually be a fisherman rather than a seaman as we would say today.

Whilst searching I came across your post here http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=769202.0 where you account for the siblings names.

Did any go to US or UK? Just wondering if John emigrated and then returned home.
