Title: Florence Gautier married to Percy Shaw in Southampton
Post by: Lindyloo on Monday 24 April 17 15:32 BST (UK)
I am trying to find some more information about my great grandmother Florence who I believe was living in Folkestone when she married my Great grandfather.  I have no details of her birth or death ..... She was an army wife and traveled with him, they had two daughters, one of them was my grandmother.  When retired they ran The Bugle Pub in Brading, Isle of Wight.  I would like to know where and when she was born, and any information about her family.

Do you have their marriage certificate as it should give information on their fathers, also the witnesses could help

Did Florence live until 1939?  If so you should have a look at the 1939 Register for a birthdate.

Her death registration in any event should state her age.  Do you know roughly when & where she died?

The name of Jane for her daughter would be for her mother Jane "Bewhey" sp. who died in 1883.

Her father Celestin/Charles Cyprien Gautier widower/ labourer age 33, married again to Elizabeth Sarre 28 February 1884.She was aged 26
Elizabeth was the widow of Louis Pierre Elie Rebin

My grandfather and grandmother were Percy Shaw and Florence Gautier. I am the son of their second child Marjorie Marienne Lorraine born Colchester 5th Sept 1914. Hope attachment has worked, as that is Sergeant Percy Shaw D.C.M., 1st Battalion, The Rifle Brigade, at the start of W.W. I.

Hi Gary,

Thanks so much for the photo....  I didn't have this one !

It's lovely to hear from you, I remember your Mum very well as I used to visit her and my Nan when they lived together...    I have been doing the Family History for some time now and would love to see any other photos or information that you might have,

My Dad  (Eddie) is now living in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, he is 90 years old, unfortunately had to go into a home last year as Mum could no longer look after him, he has the onset of dementia.

I am happy to share my Family History with you, if you are interested ...(*) Moderator Comment: e-mail removed in accordance with RootsChat policy,to avoid spamming and other abuses.
