Title: Derry/Londonderry board / Dickson family tree Garvagh
Post by: Erica Montgomery on Tuesday 16 May 17 12:52 BST (UK)
Hello , I'm new to all this , I've been using the family bible dated 1904 and the gravestone in the old Graveyard beside Garvagh library plus information from elderly relatives who have now deceased. I would appreciate any help .
My Great Grandfather was Thomas Dickson , grocer and grain merchant who married a Jane Dunlop in 1877
My Grandmother was nee Mary Glass who died after giving birth to my father 28/07/28...she originated from Cah/Gorran and her mothers maiden name was Cunningham..i don't know where James and Isabella cunningham were buried ??
Then my Grandfathers brother Robert Dickson moved to the U.S.A... His sister Nellie Dickson married James Thompson and also moved to U.S.A /Canada...i must have relatives living out there !! Thanks in advance  :)

Robert Dickson's death certificate is online. Died 8/6/1928 aged 40 years of bronchopneumonia. He was single and a Clerk at the time of his death. Born Garvagh-Father Thomas Dickson, Mother Jane Dunlop. His DOB was 3/10/1887. He died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. USA.

Nellie Dickson travelled to Quebec aged 36 years on the ship Minnedosa 10/10/1924. The object of going to Canada she states as "to make a house"  She had £100 with her, and she said that "yes" she could read. She also said that her brother Marcus Dickson was already in Canada.
regards.
