Title: John Bright Chippenham
Post by: wendydbriscoe on Tuesday 06 June 17 14:44 BST (UK)
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can find parents of a John Bright born around 1796? in Chippenham.
and also his siblings.
Found John on the 1841 Census in Bathampton but was not born in County
So i am taking a punt that he could have been born in the neighbouring county of Wiltshire
Any help much appreciated as i am stuck on this particular line.
Kind Regards
Wendy

I wonder why you say Chippenham in particular?

There is a John Bright baptism in Chippenham, 17 Jan 1796 (parents George & Betty), but that John is likely to be the one who is still alive in 1861 and living in London with his wife Martha.

Your John I think died between 1841-1851 - his wife Kezia is widowed by 1851.  Is that the right family?

FreeREG has transcribed the marriage:

St Nicholas, Bathampton: 13 Nov 1826

John Bright to Kezia Rogers

Witnesses: James Rogers, Stephen Wiltshire

I think the 1845 may be correct;

Reasoning;

1841 Census we have;
John Bright, 45****
Kiszie Bright, 35
Ellen Bright, 14
John Bright, 11*****
Jenneta Bright, 10
Rosanna Bright, 4

BURIALS
St Mark, Lyncombe
JOHN Bright, 22 Sept 1849, age 45*
JOHN Bright, 21 Sept 1849, age 19**
Both have abode as Dolemead

I see that there is no obvious burial for John in keeping with other family members at Bathwick St Mary:

07.04.1841: Alfred Bright, abode Villa Field, aged 2 yrs 9 months
15.12.1844: Eliza Bright, abode Villa Field, aged 6 months
07.10.1851: Kezia Bright, abode Villa House, aged 55

The family was at Villa Field in 1841, and at Villa House/Villa Field in 1851.

As just favoured the 1849 one as it appears Son John (from 1841 Census)may have died also?
Illness/Accident?
Both working away from Home at the time?
