Title: Felix Golden born Newry 1842
Post by: Jonno12 on Sunday 09 July 17 11:36 BST (UK)
Hello,
I'am trying to find any birth or baptism record for Felix Golden. From census records for England and Wales he was born in Newry about 1842. From marriage certificates his father was Thomas Golden a Publican.
Felix first appears on the 1861 census of England as a hairdresser in Hereford with his surname recorded as Golding.
Any help much appreciated.

You won’t get a birth certificate because they didn’t start in Ireland till 1864. You might find a baptism. The RC parish records are on-line free on the National Library site:

No publican called Golden in Newry in 1824 according to Pigot’s Directory:

I looked for a Thomas Golden death in the Newry area 1864- 1901 but did not see any. No wills 1858 – 1901 either.

Elwyn,
Thanks for your help.
Checked through the Newry Catholic Parish Records for 1842 and 1843 with no success.
Cheers
John

Might be worth trying alternative spellings like Golding, Goulding etc - there's a few around in Newry

Also to avoid any duplication of effort here's what we've done on Felix in Wales and the borders
