Title: KENNEDY, Anthony and HART, Margaret
Post by: BC457 on Thursday 13 July 17 17:14 BST (UK)
I'm researching my 4th great grandparents Anthony Kennedy b. 1825 in Tipperary and Margaret Hart b. 1830 in Tipperary. Anthony may have been born with the name Antonius. I know Anthony's father was born in Ireland in 1795. Anthony had a brother named John Kennedy. Anthony and Margaret married in 1855. They went to the United States some time before 1856. Their first child was born in Connecticut, United States in 1856. I am seeking advise on where I should begin to find information on them.

Anthony's may have been recorded as Antonius in a baptismal register but he is unlikely to be listed as Antonius in other records.

Where did he and Margaret marry? if in Ireland then you'll need to see if church records go back far enough. Remember that marriages usually take place in the bride's church so even if records go back to 1820s Anthony's baptism might not be in that parish.

How do you know Anthony's father was born 1795? (you haven't mentioned his Christian name)

Have you checked death certificate of Anthony, and brother John, to see if both parents and a more exact birthdates listed?

Hi,
In the Tithe records there are 8 Parishes that have the HART name listed. The marriage usually takes place in the Brides Parish.
The Kennedy name, too many as they are all over County Tipperary.
You would really need Margaret Hart's fathers name.
BUT, if you would like a challenge then you could use...............
http://registers.nli.ie
it's free, but a bit harsh on the old eyes.
Civil records start in 1864 so the above link are the Church records, that's if they were Catholic.

Town Land   Parish
Clonada      Ballygibbon
Lisataggart   Ballygibbon
Clonaleigh       Ballymackey
Coolnamunea   Modreeny
Portland       Lorrha
Garraneaty   Molough
Lackendarra Drummeenagoun and Drumminphillip   Moyaliff
Demcone      Kilvolane
Kilbough   Buolick

when you log into the site the Ireland map shows, point to MUNSTER then to Tipperary and say for Lorrha click into the Parish then search by approx. year of marriage.
as I say its a bit hard on the eyes.
If you get really stuck please let us know.
I have searched for them on the ship records but no results sorry.

Thank you both for such a quick reply. I appreciate the time you both took to read and reply. I don't have the name of Anthony's father. I got his fathers birth year from papers my cousin had on them. I will research the suggestions given.
