hi i am trying to find census for abraham and his family on the 1851 and 1861 census. this is him as a young boy 1841
HO107/1143/ Book 9 /40 p 4
Birmingham
this is him in 1871 with his wife sarah tranter
RG10/ 3117/ 98 p 28
this is his marriage to sarah tranter in 1858
Abraham Groutage Dec qtr 1858 Birmingham RD
Volume 6d Page 195.
another thing was that i had to purchase marriage certificate as not on birmingham marriage and banns .

1861 is elusive but if it helps there was a daughter Sarah A who is 12 in 1871 so she should be with parents in 1861.
Birthplace Birmingham Sarah Ann Sep 1859.

Could his grandparents be Abraham Groutage and Hannah Adams who married at St Peter & St Paul Aston on 6.6.1908?

wow you are all correct thank you . carole yes that is abraham grandparents and thanks maureen looked it up and yes it is.
we have always had problems with transcriptions on that side of the family. some through error some who knows!!!!!
indeed sarah daughter jane married a walter benjamin ainsworth and i could not find them on 1911 census until i found them on a electrical roll in 1912... imagine my surprise when i found them down as jarvis...... your guess is as good as mine !!!!!
