Morning all in the northern hemisphere
This is the information that I have for my great grand parents
Thomas Evans born in Wales (where I have no idea) 8/3/1870 died in Plymouth 21/11/1948 he married
Julia Wallace born in Ireland (where I don't know) 27/12/1873 died in Plymouth 21/5/1952
They had ten children living and one still born son and two sets of stillborn twins one of the living children is my grandmother Mary Gertrude Evans
I am just trying to go back down the line of the family tree
Thanks again from Teresa in Australia

Hi bellaode,
Are you sure of the birth date for Julia? I can't find any Irish births for that date. There is this one...
Julia Wallace. 25 Dec 1875. Limerick, Ireland. father Daniel Wallace. mother Ellen Wallace Fitzmaurice.
Thomas Evans. 1870 J Quarter in St. Asaph. Denbighshire. Volume 11B Page 411. mmn LEWIS.

Hi
The census state that Julia was born in Plymouth. Is it possible that her parents were the Irish connection :-\
1891 has her in Plymouth
RG12/1730 f82 p22
Julia Wallace age 15 Pauper School Girl bn Plymouth
I have yet to find her in 1881.
Do you have Julia's marriage certificate, if so what information does it give
-
As stated before
"Julia Wallace born in Ireland (where I don't know) 27/12/1873 died in Plymouth 21/5/1952"
I can't find any birth record in Devon or on the 1881. The 1911 does say that she was born in Plymouth but it also says he nationality is Irish.
Mary Gertrude Evans is on the 1911 age 2 years.

Ignore this family, now found in 1891
Ancestry is suggesting that she may be this Julia but this family needs further investigation. It looks as though the father Patrick was in the services going by places of birth of the children
RG11/5054 f31 p16
Elswick, Northumberland
Patrick Wallace 48 bn Galway, Ireland
Mary Wallace 40 bn Barnforth
Michel Wallace 13 bn Preston, Lancashire
Bridget Wallace 12 bn Preston, Lancashire
Elizabeth Wallace 10 bn Aldershot Camp
Margaret Wallace 8 bn Chichester Barracks
Julia Wallace 6 bn NL
Ellen Wallace 1 bn NL
NL appears to bn used on the page as an abbreviation for Newcastle
If this is your Julia the birth reg gives mmn O'KEEFF (Ellens has O'Keefe)
Births Dec 1874
Wallace Julia Newcastle T. 10b 26
As I said, this family needs investigating further
Julia's marriage would hopefully name her father ???

thanks for your help I am still trolling through paperwork and asking mum but see her mum is deceased its very sketchy, I am doing the family tree as mum has been diagnosed with cancer and would love to be able to have complete records before she passes as there is no-one else in the family with any information,
thank you once again

This is the only one that comes up for Abergele. Not finding a Thomas Edwin, as mentioned you need the marriage info to confirm father.

I have discounted the Newcastle Julia she is still in Newcastle in 1891.
I am sorry to hear about your Mum. I would suggest that the purchase of that marriage certificate will be the only way to progress this quickly, hopefully Julia will have named her father correctly
-
Same here, sorry about your mum but as rosie99 says you need to get the marriage cert so we can go forward.

This is from your other thread... is it correct?
"PAtrick Wallace 1832 Galway Ireland died July 11 1903 in Plymouth England
He married
Mary O'Keeff I think born 1836 somewhere in Ireland
Their daughter Julia Wallace born in Plymouth about 1874
The Galway birth was taken from the 1881 census"

That looks like the family I have discounted see reply 8 which shows them on census. They are still in Newcastle in 1891 - Patrick has died but Julia is still with her mother and siblings

It may be worth looking at a different family in 1881,although there are a number of problems with it.The family is that of Patrick and Mary Wallace in Plymouth, who have amongst others,a daughter transcribed as Telue on one well known site.Admittedly it does look like that and comparison with other "J"s is not favourable, but it isn't a name I am familiar with. The father is given as born Kerry,Ireland on the original but transcribed as Kerry,Montgomeryshire! He is also given as aged 40,i.e born 1841 whereas the death in 1903 would yield 1834.So,not overly promising, but I can't see a better alternative at the moment.

Roger

I've found Patrick Wallace from Kerry,Ireland in Plymouth in the 1901 census,a widower/inmate,and he is given as born 1824!

Hello,
I may be totally on the wrong track but here is all my work re Patrick Wallace, Plymouth

It looks to me that Julia Wallace Evans' father is Patrick from the marriage certificate.
Teresa has looked for a Julia of the right age with a father, Patrick.
There are at least 2 - both with parents Patrick and Mary.
Did Julia from Newcastle/Gateshead move to Plymouth or is the one who married Thomas Evans the one who was already there?
-
Surely it is the one that is already there.I haven't checked the 1901 census to confirm but there is an 1897 marriage for a Julia Wallace in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Roger

I would say so - but I have given the details on the Patrick Wallace thread only to find that the same suggestions are on this Thomas Edwin Evans thread ???
And ... none have been commented on by Teresa ;)
-
Heywood, I think you are on the right track with the Plymouth one. ;D I will stop posting on THIS thread as it is silly to have replies on both. Glad we have both discounted Patrick with wife Mary O'Keefe in Newcastle ;D

We need to be keeping replies re Julia Wallace on this link
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=775317.0
-
And that was 2 days ago Rosie ;)
I was trying to look for Patrick and family as all born Ireland but Teresa needs to decide.
It would seem that something happened as the workhouse becomes the residence for some of the family.
There are other indications of place of birth but we seem to be going round in circles.
It is difficult when threads cross over.
-
Thanks heywood
It is doing my head in this morning, I keep managing to find posts with duplicate information ;D ;D I will wait for a response from OP
Rosie :)

Hi Guys
This is from the relative of my grandmother Mary Gertrude Hallam (nee Evans) daughter of Julia Wallace and Thomas Evans this relative is the daughter of Joseph Antony Evans 1913-1990
"Julia was my grandmother, my dad was Joseph. I am not sure if Julia was born here (UK) or in Ireland, I have seen one Julia born in Newcastle. Patrick her father was from Ireland, but he gave different places of birth on the censuses, and so far I have not been able to find him. I also do not know if he was married before he came to England or whether he married a local girl believed to be called Mary. Julia died in 1952 four years after her husband Thomas who she married in 1893 in Plymouth."
-
Thanks for the latest information.
It should really be posted on your other thread re the Wallace connection rather than this one which is about your Evans family.
As pointed out it is quite confusing and the same information is then duplicated.
**ignore this now, please.
Information is on the correct thread. Apologies.
