Title: Edward Hanson, Joiner at Market Rasen
Post by: Phodgetts on Saturday 29 July 17 20:05 BST (UK)
Two questions regarding Joiners at Market Rasen through the 19C.

On the census the joiners businesses seemed to be 'huddled' together in the town. Why was that, and what were they mainly working on?

Do any of you in the Linconshire area have trade directories, and if so does one Edward Hanson, who was a Joiner on Queen Street, Market Rasen show up in the directories? Edward was in the census 1841 - 1871 as a Joiner, but on the 1881 census he was a Cabinet Maker.

If possible I'd love to see an image of his entry or listing in the directory.

Thank you

Philip

Have you looked at the Historical Directories collection at the University of Leicester?

I didn't know about that directory being available online. Thank you so much!
