Hi I am trying without much luck to find any records of William Robinson born around 1849 (was aged 52 1901 census). He was listed on the 1901 Census in Kill, Dunfanaghy and was married to Emily (only record l can find of her says her maiden name was also Robinson) born around 1849. They had 2 children William born 8/2/1880 and Samuel born 30/7/1876. The Irish Census records don't seem to go back any further for this area so am not sure where to look for more information.
Any help would be much appreciated as l am new to this. Thank you again.

Welcome to RootsChat,
One of the important pieces of information on the Census is religion because this makes a difference on where to search.

We can see William is COI
Samuel birth cert gives his mother as Robinson as you said but the date doesn't match the one you gave (not unusual) so can you tell us where you got her surname and the birth dates?

The next step would be to look for the parents marriage.

It appears both Emily and William died in 1905 so we can't check the 1911 Census which would have given years married and number of children.
Emily January 1905

I used the date of her death to work out the appox year she was born as so far l have not been able to find any record of Emily's birth.

They were COI - sorry for not adding this and thank you for the tip.

Thank you for this. I hadn't found another child.

If their marriage is registered, it doesn't appear they married in Dunfanaghy but until the images of all marriages are online it's difficult to find a possibility anywhere else.
Also if they did start out somewhere else it's even possible they had earlier children.

Hi everyone
Sorry back again. I still haven't found William and Emily's marriage cert but l have found information on their children or at least some of them.
I am looking at their youngest son William born 1880 and was married twice. His first wife was Maggie Miller and his second wife was Maggie Greer. William and Maggie Greer had 5 children Emily b 1908 died 1908, Margaret Ann b 1909 (have found one of her g grandchildren) William b 1910, Ellen b 1912 (my Gran) and Catherine b 1914.
I have found info on Emily and Margaret Ann and some info on Ellen but William and Catherine are harder to find info on. I haven't been able to find anything about them after their births. I know all the dates are correct because l was lucky enough to see them in the Parish records at the church.
Does anyone have any ideas where l could look to try and find them please?
