I am searching for origins of ROBERT TAYLOR. Service No. 3128156, Royal Scots Fusiliers, 11th Battalion. I am looking for his date and place of birth (for family history), and date of death so as to be able to apply for his service record. So far I have –
Born about 1913 - calculated from age given at marriage in 1942.
He married Ethel May BETTS on 1st June 1942 by LICENCE at Blakeney, Norfolk.
Ethel May BETTS was born in 1907.
The parish register (marriage) states he was age 29, a bachelor at time of marriage in 1942.
Occupation on marriage Reg. - Sergeant, Royal Scots Fusiliers - No. 3128156
Father’s name - William TAYLOR, deceased by June 1942 – Occupation, a carter
Robert lived at Sheringham, Norfolk at time of marriage
They had a son in March 1944, born in Blakeney, Norfolk.
Robert registered the birth in March 1944, giving his address as Blakeney, Norfolk.
Sometime after registering the birth he is thought to have separated from his wife.
On causality lists he is reported wounded –
3128156 Taylor Sjt. R711 D.N.R. (Did Not Record??)
However, I have seen elsewhere the incident date shown as 17th Aug. 1944
I have no subsequent record of Robert Taylor after August 1944
Unfortunately he appears to have been born after the 1911 census, and not recorded in the 1939 Register (both would have given details of his origins).
Any suggestion on how to take this forward would be appreciated.

DNR is probably 'Date Not Recorded'
-
What about did not recover.
Might explain why he disappeared.

findmypast has an entry for your person but I don't have access to read it; someone else may be able to do that for you.
-
'Did Not Recover' is usually recorded as DOW - Died of Wound(s)

Hi JohnDave and welcome to Rootschat...Could "K" be mistaken for and "R" might it be "Date Not Known"

Looked on FindMyPast and it is DNR under date of casualty.
Lots of DNR so looks like did not record or did not recall. Possible under the conditions they were in that they didn't know the exact date.

Thanks to all who replied and offered help. I have now found Roberts Taylor's origins. I found a news cutting of his marriage, and it gave his place of birth as being Ayr in Scotland, and i have now identified his family.
Again, thanks to all who offered suggestions. John.
