I have come across the Spearpoint family through my paternal grandmother. They seem extremely well documented and go back to 1500s. They appear to be mariners from Folkestone. Although the family tree is well established I am trying to find more details of their lives. Can anyone help?

That would be fantastic, Betty. I have Alice 1851-1928, William 1825-1887, James 1786-1860, Baker 1750-, Thomas 1722-1779, Henry 1695-1730, Baker 1666-1720, Henry 1621-1672, Ingrome 1600- and George 1575-1609. That I think is the direct line. Alice was my great great grandmother, but I have loads of other great uncles/ aunts, etc.
What churches might they be?
This might answer your point, Rosie99 too. I have all the names and dates, but very little else.

Both graves are in the Cheriton Road Cemetery (a.k.a. Folkestone Old Cemetery) Folkestone.

There appears to have been a Mr T Spearpoint who was a Post Agent (this ran in the family for some time?

At Folkestone County Court, on December 15, before Sir W. L. Selfe, Mr Charles Griffith, chemist and druggist, Canterbury, sued Mr. T. Spearpoint for 7/. 10s. for an upper and lower set of artificial teeth for Mrs. Spearpoint, and 1/. for four teeth supplied to his daughter.

The name is pretty common around Folkestone, even an image search on the surname turns out interesting historical photographs/memorials

I may be able to help. All of the names of people that go aback historically are linked to my family. My mum is in fact a Spearpoint. My grandfather is Thomas Henry who was a fisherman in Folkestone, as was my great grandfather.

Thanks for your answer. There seem to be hundreds of Spearpoints in Kent and Dover/ Folkestone. My point of entry is my great great grandmother Alice Spearpoint (1851-1928) daughter of William and Elizabeth Ann May. Alice married Frederick Barton, another family deeply rooted in the area. Are you related to this part of the family or do you have any info about them. Much appreciated.
