This is the only known photograph of William Hedley Charlton taken outside his pub (The Station Hotel, Ebchester, Co Durham). He died in 1902 and the pub was burned down in 1948. Could one of you miracle workers please tidy it up. The photo includes William but I have a better photo of him so his presence is incidental! I am just looking for one of your usual miracles. Thank you

Hello MartynS
She is absolutely delighted with your masterpiece! And, I must say, so was I. But between us we have made her very happy. I have no idea of her financial circumstances but it would have cost her a small fortune to have the photograph restored and the family researched. Between us we have done it for her and all free of charge.

Thanks Pat,
The lady who created this file sent me a copy, along with the diary of William Hedley Charlton's father and some other materials. On this occasion, the family history I am doing is in relation to their ownership of a farm and a public house. They were all called William so it was a bit confusing at first and I had to start looking for their middle names!
This particular William died aged only 29 and was the third in line and I believe he may have been succeeded by his sister but I am having trouble finding her married name. Like so many of my stories, it has been difficult but never boring. The beautiful old building in the picture was burnt down in 1948 but very quickly rebuilt in brick and is still a busy pub restaurant today.
