Hello,
My 3x great-grandmother, Elizabeth Goddard (Stockton) was born in 1840, in Midgley, West Yorkshire. Her parents, Henry and Sarah Stockton, were from Market Drayton, in Shropshire. They married in the town, in 1821. Henry was born in 1801, in the town, and I don't know much about Sarah. Henry's parents were Joseph and Elizabeth Stockton. Can anyone tell me about them, and/or Sarah's parents?
Thanks,
Adam

The marriage actually took place in Drayton in Hales. Henry Stockton and Sarah Stubbs were married by Banns 22 October 1821 Witnesses John Grosvenor and George Boughey.
There is a baptism in Market Drayton 3 January 1802 for a Sarah Stubbs parents Joseph and Sarah.

The 1841 Census is them. Other members of this forum think the 1861 record is for a second wife. I've never found an 1851 census record.

She's a bit of a mystery. She first married a Harding, before she married a Goddard. All I know of her (through this forum) is her life before her first marriage, and when she remarried. It is unknown what became of her first husband or when and where she died.

The family moved around a lot, and Elizabeth didn't know where she was born. In the 1881 Census she says 'Woodscase' which resembles 'Woodseaves', near High Offley.
