Title: Shields HELP!!
Post by: Auchencrieff on Sunday 27 August 17 13:26 BST (UK)
Ive been trying to find the death of Terence (Terry) Shields, a miner from Ireland for years to no avail. He appears in the 1851 census in Bo'ness with his wife Margaret Boyle who died in 1864 and is buried in Paulville Cemetery, Bathgate.
There appears to be no record of Terence after 1851.
Can anyone help . mystery Please.

If he died between 1851 - 1854 any record on Scotlands People will be under the OPR's - Old Parish Registers

Deaths from 1855 are under the Statutory registers.  Have you tried under Sheilds or Sheelds.  Have you used the wildcard facility ?  Ter* sh**ld*

Is Margaret shown as a widow on the 1861 census?

Was Terence a seaman/ mariner?

Many thanks for your reply.
Margaret is in Bathgate in 1861 and identified as a widow.
Terence has no occupation in 1851, however he was a miner and his sons are shale miners
I have tried so many variations of the name in both Scotlands People and OPrs but have had no success.
Any alternative suggestions welcome.
