Title: Simon Rock b. 1796
Post by: TonyMcGartland on Saturday 02 September 17 16:24 BST (UK)
I need to crack this mystery of the Rock family, Co. Armagh. It seems that the reason why I am getting nowhere is that there has been a lost generation between the 1840s and the 1880s where family members either married or died without being picked up.

Simon Rock had 10 children and the only one that I know is Patrick c. 1845 my wife great-grandfather. At various Rock births the sponsors were Mary Anne, James, Margaret, Bernard, John and Sarah Rose. These people must have been relatives but where have they gone? Do any of the names ring bells?

Simon married in the parish of Tyan.

This morning I found the death certificate for a son of Simon called Edward b. 1851 living in Youngstown, Mahoning, Ohio. He died 15th Dec 1930 and the informant was his wife Mary Vallaley. Interestingly, his father Simon and mother Anne Burke were recorded on the death notice. Progress!

Incidently, Simons death certificate recorded Ballyhoy as his address.
