Looking for information on Margaret Lodden and John McGowan. My 3x great-grandfather, Garret McGowan was born on 27th April 1865 to John and Margaret at St Ninian's, Stirling, Scotland. Both were born in Ireland - John was born in 1826 and Margaret in 1841 and wed in Lancashire, England on 1st February 1862. I cannot find any info on exactly where both were born and who their parents were. Apart from Garret, they also had Susan (b. 1867), Margaret (b. 1869) and Bridget (b. 1872), although there may be more who I haven't found yet!
(I have looked at the 1881 Scotland census, where Garret is transcribed to Goret.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :-)

and wed in Lancashire, England on 1st February 1862.
The marriage certificate will give fathers names/occupations and witness names may also be helpful :)

Any recommendations as to where I can find the marriage certificate? :-)

As you have the exact date it should be found on the Free BMD index in Mar 1862 and apply for a copy.
Where did you get the exact date from?

I saw the date on their daughter Bridget's birth certificate :-)

Sorry I'm not familiar with births that give parents date of marriage on them.
Unfortunately can't find a marriage entry on the index for Margaret and John :(

Thank you for all the info everyone!
I have an update. I managed to get Margaret's death certificate and the 1888 entry is the correct one. What I find intriguing is that Margaret's parents were also a John McGowan and Margaret Sutton. So it appears she was known with her mother's surname. Perhaps a coincidence but I find it very strange that both her parents' names are also her name and her husband's? Also, both John McGowan's were labourers.

Maybe obtaining the 1862 marriage cert would clarify father?
John and Margaret married each other. Charles Rose and Mary (Whittle) can be found together 1871
Who was informant on 1888 death for Margaret?
